The Mountain was written in gratitude to the Angeles National Forest during August of 2020. Driving those roads listening to music with the windows down and songwriting felt like the only things that 'soothed my soul.' May you listen to this song in the spirit in which it was written: with wild wind in your hair, heartfelt cries in your chest, and the call of The Mountain in your ears.
lyrics
Seasons should be changing
But my window view remains the same
Leaves won’t fall, aren’t turning
Warm winds blow
Take a chance and run to the highest mountain I know
Where I run to hide from the sun and shield my soul
Any momentary alleviation I’ll hold
And I won’t let go til I feel it’s breath of life enclose
Slow and steady pacing
Labyrinthine trails of unsound ground
Comfort for the roving,
Feral force
Take a chance and run to the highest mountain I know
Where I run to hide from the sun and shield my soul
Any momentary illumination I’ll hold
And I won’t let go til I feel my breath of life take hold
Instrumental
Take a chance and run to the highest mountain I know
Where I run to hide from the sun and shield my soul
Any momentary alleviation I’ll hold
And I won’t let go til I feel the cold winds blow
Take a chance and run to the highest mountain I know
Where I run to hide from the sun and shield my soul
Any momentary illumination I’ll hold
And I won’t let go til I feel the cold winds blow
Take a chance and run to the highest mountain I know
Where I run to hide from the sun and shield my soul
Any momentary illumination I’ll hold
And I won’t let go til I feel the cold winds blow
